Goldcorp’s Porcupine Gold Mines presented a donation of $250,000 at the Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) Foundation’s 19th Annual Spring Gala in May.
“We are truly grateful to Porcupine Gold Mine’s commitment to its community and their dedication towards enhancing healthcare in Timmins and surrounding area,” stated Janna Burke, TADH’s Foundation Executive Director. “This remarkable contribution brings Goldcorp’s total funds donated to the 2013-2016 Capital Campaign to a most impressive $1,750,000 which will help fund the purchase of urgently-needed medical equipment for several departments and programs at TADH.”
“As a major employer in the city of Timmins, we know that many of our employees and their families depend on the services at Timmins and District Hospital,” stated Bryan Neeley, PGM’s Sustainability Manager. “Supporting our hospital is essentially about supporting our families and that’s what makes this community partnership a perfect fit for Goldcorp.”
The donation brings the Foundation’s 2013-2016 Capital Campaign – Building for Tomorrow’s Healthcare Today past the $15 million mark. Many of the items outlined in the campaign have been purchased and areas like the Breast Wellness Centre have been constructed. Funds donated by Goldcorp went toward the purchase of two chemistry analyzers for the hospital laboratory and a fluoroscopy machine for the medical imaging department. The rest of the funds will be used to purchase additional medical equipment for several departments at Timmins and District Hospital.
On hand for the cheque presentation were PGM’s Bryan Neeley, Sustainability Manager and Greg Hart, Manager of Operations, and accepting on behalf of the Timmins and District Hospital were 2013-2016 Capital Campaign cabinet members Dave McGirr and Gabriel Provost.
